GIRLS IN SPORT COMPETITION
PRESENTATION EVENING:
Health Minister and Leigh M.P. Andy Burnham endorsed the Presidents Challenge to raise enough funds to buy one sports kit for a girls football or rugby team.
Mr Burnham was happy to be able to congratulate the winners at the presentation evening at Leigh Sports Village. Due to the overwhelming success of the challenge Two first prizes and a Second Prize of sports kits were awarded plus two runner up prizes of Medical Kits and Balls.
Pictured right with Mr Burnham and President of Leigh Soroptimists Marlene Downey, the joint winners Leigh Genesis girls U9's/U10's football team and Golborne High School 12/13 rugby league team in their new kit.
Below Lowton High School girls U14's football team also received a kit, and runner up prizes were awarded to Tyldesley Girls U15/U16 Rugby Union Team and Astley and Tyldesley girls U9's/10's football team.
